Email Marketing Campaigns
Build, send, and measure one-off email campaigns: promotions, newsletters, launches. Pairs with Automations for recurring flows.
On this page
Email Marketing Campaigns in Tanqory are one-off email sends: promotions, newsletters, product launches, end-of-sale notices. Distinct from Automations, which are recurring rule-driven sends (welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase). Campaigns + Automations together cover the bulk of email marketing strategy.
You'll work at /admin/store/{storeId}/marketing/email (or the email marketing module).
Campaign vs Automation
| Concept | One-off / recurring | Triggered by | Use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| Campaign | One-off | Operator clicks Send | Promotional broadcast |
| Automation | Recurring rule-based | Customer behavior (signup, cart, post-purchase) | Welcome series, drip, recovery |
Before you begin
- You are signed in to your Tanqory store admin.
- You have Manage marketing permission.
- Email marketing is configured (sender domain DNS verified for SPF / DKIM / DMARC).
- You have a target segment + offer in mind.
Steps
1. Open Marketing > Email (or Campaigns)
The Campaigns page lists past + scheduled campaigns.
2. Click Create campaign
The campaign builder opens.
3. Pick a template (or start from scratch)
Tanqory offers templates for common campaign types. Custom-design via the visual builder.
4. Compose subject line
Subject line is the single biggest CTR driver. Spend disproportionate effort here:
- Keep under 50 characters (mobile preview).
- Avoid spam triggers (ALL CAPS, excessive punctuation).
- Personalize when possible (
{first_name}). - A/B test subject lines for major campaigns.
5. Compose body
- Hero: one clear primary message + CTA.
- Supporting: short bullets or 2-3 product cards.
- Footer: unsubscribe + physical address (legally required in most jurisdictions).
6. Select the audience
Pick a saved segment (VIPs, lapsed, geo-based) or build inline.
7. Test send to yourself
Always send a test first. Check on mobile + desktop. Verify links, personalization, deliverability.
8. Pick schedule vs send now
Schedule for optimal open rate (typically 10 AM Tuesday-Thursday in customer timezone).
9. Send
10. Monitor in Campaign Metrics
Open rate, click rate, conversion rate, unsubscribe rate. Compare to your baseline.
Verify the result
- Test send arrives + renders correctly.
- Campaign sends to the right segment.
- Open rate, click rate visible within hours.
- Unsubscribe rate within tolerance.
- Attributed orders visible in Campaign Attribution.
Best practices
- Subject line obsession. It drives open rate.
- One clear CTA per email. Multi-CTA dilutes click rate.
- Mobile-first design. ~70% of opens are mobile.
- Test send to yourself + a colleague.
- Track and learn. Every campaign teaches.
Common mistakes
- Bad subject line: low open rate, wasted send.
- Too many CTAs.
- Image-only emails: render issues + spam-folder.
- Sending too frequently. Unsubscribes spike.
- Ignoring metrics: no learning.
If something goes wrong
- High unsubscribe rate: content / frequency issue.
- Low open rate: subject line or send time.
- Deliverability issues: verify sender domain DNS (SPF / DKIM / DMARC).
- Permission denied: your role lacks Manage marketing.
