Search the Product List

The Products list has a search bar that matches against the product name; type a few characters and the matching products appear. For filtering by status or stock, use the tabs above the search bar; for everything else, use the Filter controls.

You'll work under Products in the admin sidebar.

Two ways to narrow the list

• Search: type a product name into the search bar. As you type, a Search for: row appears with your text; press Enter to run it. Searching for cotton, for example, returns Cotton Throw Blanket and Classic Cotton Tee.
• Status and stock tabs: the tabs above the search bar filter the list in one click: All, Active, Draft, Low stock, Out of stock, Archived. Each shows a live count.

Filter Products narrows the list by category, vendor, tag, and more. To keep a search or filter you use often, click Save as to turn it into a Saved View.

Before you begin

• You have View products permission.
• Open Products in the admin sidebar to reach the search bar above the list.

Steps

1. Open Products

Go to Products in the admin sidebar to see the product list.

2. Type in the search bar and press Enter

Click the search bar and type part of a product name. A Search for: row appears below it with your text; press Enter to run the search. The list narrows to matching products.

3. Or filter by status with the tabs

To narrow by status or stock instead of name, select a tab: Active, Draft, Low stock, Out of stock, or Archived. Each tab shows its count.

4. Click a result to open the product

Click a matching row to open it in the product editor.

5. Optional: save it as a view

If it is a search or filter you will reuse, click Save as to keep it as a Saved View.

Verify the result

• The list shows only the products matching your search or tab.
• The tab counts and the product count reflect the narrowed list.

Best practices

• Search by name for a quick jump to a specific product.
• Use the tabs for status and stock: they are one click and always accurate.
• Save recurring searches as Saved Views instead of retyping them.

Common mistakes

• Typos in the search: no matches; check spelling.
• Expecting status: or tag: operators: the search bar matches the product name, not query operators; use the tabs and Filter instead.

If something goes wrong

• No results: check spelling, or clear the search and use a tab.
• You filtered and forgot: an active tab or search stays applied; click All (or clear the search) to see every product again.
