Discount Metrics Dashboard
The top of the Discounts page shows a Discount Metrics panel with four figures: Total Discounts, Active Discounts, Times Used, and Total Revenue, for a date range. This companion explains what each figure means and how to read them, and links to the full Discounts page guide.
On this page
Above the list of discounts, the Discounts page shows a Discount Metrics panel that gives a quick read on your discounts as a whole. It has four figures for the date range shown at the top: Total Discounts, Active Discounts, Times Used, and Total Revenue, each with a small change indicator. Below them is a chart of total discounts over time. This article explains what the panel shows; and Discount Management is where you find, filter, and act on individual discounts.
The panel is a summary, not a place to edit discounts, so it is where you glance to see the overall picture before you work in the list below. You can collapse the panel to give the list more room, and expand it again when you want the figures back. Selecting a metric card opens more detail for that figure.
What each figure shows
| Figure | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Total Discounts | How many discounts you have in total |
| Active Discounts | How many are live now |
| Times Used | How many times your discounts have been redeemed |
| Total Revenue | The revenue figure for the period, in your store currency |
Before you begin
- Your role includes View discounts.
- Open Discounts in the admin sidebar to open the discounts list.
Steps
1. Open Discounts and read the metrics panel
Open Discounts. The Discount Metrics panel sits above the list, with Total Discounts, Active Discounts, Times Used, and Total Revenue for the date range shown. Reading these first gives you the overall state before you look at individual discounts. See Discounts Overview.
2. Select a metric to see more
Select a metric card to open more detail for that figure. This is how you go from the summary number to a closer look, for example when a figure is higher or lower than you expected.
3. Collapse the panel when you need room
Use Collapse to hide the panel and give the list more space, and Expand to bring it back. Collapse it when you are working in the list and do not need the figures, and expand it when you want the overall read again.
Verify the result
- The Discount Metrics panel shows Total Discounts, Active Discounts, Times Used, and Total Revenue for the date range.
- Selecting a metric card shows more detail for that figure.
- Collapsing the panel hides it, and expanding brings it back.
Best practices
- Read the panel before working in the list, so you start from the overall picture rather than one discount.
- Watch Active Discounts and Times Used during a promotion, so you can see whether discounts are live and being used.
- Collapse the panel when you need the list, so the table has more room.
Common mistakes
- Trying to edit a discount from the panel, when the panel is a summary and edits are made by opening a discount in the list.
- Reading the figures without checking the date range, so a number covers a different period than you thought.
If something goes wrong
- A figure looks wrong. Check the date range at the top of the panel, since the figures cover that period.
- The panel is not showing. It may be collapsed; use Expand to bring it back.
- You cannot open a discount from here. Open it from the list below the panel instead. See Discount Management.
