Orders Overview
Orders Overview is where you see and manage all your store's orders in one place. It shows headline order metrics for a date range above a filterable, searchable, and sortable list of orders, each with who placed it, its total, and its payment and fulfillment status, so you can work through what needs attention. This guide maps every part of the page.
On this page
Orders Overview is the page where you see and manage all of your store's orders in one place. At the top it shows headline order metrics for a date range, and below it a list of your orders that you can filter by status, search, and sort. Each order shows who placed it, its total, and where it stands for payment and fulfillment, so you can work through what needs attention. You open it from the admin, in the Orders area, under Overview. This article maps the page so you know what each part shows and how to work the list.
Before you begin
- Your role includes Edit orders.
- Open Orders and open the Overview.
What's on the page
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Order Metrics | Headline numbers for the selected date range |
| Export, Hide analytics, Create order | Export the list, hide the metrics, and create a new order |
| All, Unfulfilled, Unpaid, Open, Archived | Tabs that filter the list by status, each with a count |
| Search and Manage columns | Find orders and choose which columns show |
| Order, Date, Customer, Channel, Total, Payment status, Fulfillment status, Items | The columns describing each order |
Steps
1. Open Orders Overview
From the admin, open Orders > Overview. The page shows an Export, a Hide analytics, and a Create order button at the top, a date range you can change, the Order Metrics section, and the list of orders below.
2. Read the order metrics
The Order Metrics section shows headline numbers for the selected date range: Total orders, Items ordered, Returns, and Orders fulfilled. In this example the range holds 3 total orders, 6 items ordered, 0 returns, and 0 orders fulfilled. Expand shows more detail, and Hide analytics at the top collapses this section when you want to focus on the list. Use these numbers for a quick read on the period before you work the orders.
3. Filter the list by status
Below the metrics, tabs filter the list by status: All, Unfulfilled, Unpaid, Open, and Archived, each with a count. Selecting a tab narrows the list to those orders, so you can work through, for example, only the unfulfilled ones. The plus lets you add your own view alongside the standard tabs.
4. Read the orders list
Each row is an order. The columns show the Order number, the Date it was placed, the Customer, the Channel it came from, the Total, the Payment status, the Fulfillment status, and the number of Items. In this example, order 1003 for Aisha Khan totals $620.00 and reads Payment pending and Unfulfilled, alongside orders 1002 and 1001. Reading across a row tells you what a customer bought and what still needs doing. Select a row to open the order and act on it.
5. Search, sort, and manage columns
Use the Search orders by number, customer, or email box to find a specific order. Each column header has a control to sort the list by that column, and Manage columns lets you choose which columns are shown. Together these help you find and order the list the way you work. Use Create order to add an order yourself, and Export to download the list.
Best practices
- Work by status. Use the Unfulfilled and Unpaid tabs to clear what needs action rather than scrolling the whole list.
- Set the date range for the metrics. The Order Metrics reflect the selected range, so set it to the period you want to read.
- Sort by what matters. Sort by Date to work newest first, or by Total to see the largest orders.
- Show only the columns you use. Manage columns keeps the table focused on the information you act on.
If something goes wrong
- An order is missing from the list. Check which status tab is selected; a tab like Unfulfilled hides orders in other states. Use All to see everything.
- The metrics look wrong. Check the date range at the top, since the numbers cover only the selected period.
- You cannot open or change an order. Your role may not allow managing orders. Ask an owner or admin.
