View Orders
Find and manage your orders from the Orders overview: metrics, status tabs, search, and a sortable table you open orders from.
On this page
The Orders overview is the page where you find and manage your orders. It opens with a set of metrics, a row of status tabs, a search bar, and a table of your orders. You scan and filter here to find the order you want, then open it to do the work. This article walks through each part of the page.
You will find this under Orders in your store admin.
Before you begin
- Your role includes View orders.
- Open Orders in the admin sidebar to open the orders list.
The Orders overview
The page is headed Orders overview. Along the top right are Export, Hide analytics, and Create order. Below that a date-range pill sets the period the metrics cover. The rest of the page, shown above, is the metrics, the status tabs, the search and columns controls, and the orders table.
Read the Order Metrics
The Order Metrics section shows four cards for the selected period: Total orders, Items ordered, Returns, and Orders fulfilled, with a chart of your orders over time below them and an Expand control on the panel. Use the date-range pill at the top to change the period. These give you a quick read on order volume before you work the list.
Filter by status
Under the metrics is a row of tabs that split the orders by state: All, Unfulfilled, Unpaid, Open, and Archived. Each tab shows a live count, so you know how many orders need attention before you open anything. Click a tab to narrow the table to that state, for example Unfulfilled to see the orders still waiting to ship.
Search and choose columns
The Search orders by number, customer, or email bar finds a specific order when you already know something about it, such as the order number, the customer's name, or their email. Next to it, Manage columns lets you choose which fields the table shows, such as Payment status, Fulfillment status, Channel, Total, and Items, so the table matches how you work.
Read the orders table
The table lists your orders with a column for the Order number, Date, Customer, Channel, Total, Payment status, Fulfillment status, and Items. Each column header can sort the list. A checkbox at the start of each row lets you select orders to act on together, and the controls at the bottom set how many rows show per page and move between pages.
Open an order
Select an order from the table to open it. The order's own page is where you do the work on it, such as fulfilling items, taking or refunding payment, and reading its history. To create an order yourself, for a phone or in-person sale, use Create order at the top right.
Best practices
- Filter before you scan. Use the status tabs to show only the orders that need action, rather than reading the whole list.
- Search when you know the order. The search bar is the fastest way to reach a specific order by number, customer, or email.
- Set the columns you use. Manage columns so the table shows the fields you rely on and hides the ones you do not.
Common mistakes
- Reading the full list every time, instead of filtering by status first.
- Overlooking the date range, so the metrics cover a different period than you expect.
- Leaving unhelpful columns on, which makes the table harder to scan.
