On this page
The fulfillment request notification is the email your store sends to a fulfillment provider when an order needs to be prepared. This page lets you edit the email subject and body, see a live preview of how it will look, and send a test copy before it goes out. The email uses placeholders that are filled with each order's real details when it is sent, so one template works for every order. You reach it from Settings, then Notifications, then Fulfillment services.
What's on the page
| Control | What it does |

| Send Test Email | Sends a test copy so you can check it |
| Edit Code | Opens the email's underlying code to edit it directly |
Before you begin
- Your role includes General settings.
- Open Settings > Notifications in the admin sidebar. Open the fulfillment request notification to edit it.
Edit the fulfillment request notification
From the admin, open Settings, then Notifications, then Fulfillment services. The page shows the email's controls across the top, the Email subject, and an Email body preview below.
- Edit the email subject. The Email subject is the line the provider sees in their inbox, and it can include placeholders. On this store it reads "Fulfillment request for order" followed by the order-number placeholder, so each email names the order it is about. Write a subject that makes the request easy to recognize.
- Review the email body. Below the subject, the Email body shows a live preview of the email as fulfillment providers will see it. The default body includes an order-details block with the order number, customer name, and total, and a shipping-address block, all built from placeholders. A note under the preview explains that these placeholders are replaced with each order's real data when the email is sent.
- Change the content. Use the buttons across the top to shape the email. Reset to Default returns it to the standard template if a change goes wrong. Generate with AI drafts the content for you as a starting point. Edit Code opens the email's underlying code so you can adjust the layout and wording directly. Keep the placeholders in place so every email still carries the right order's details.
- Send a test. Before you rely on it, select Send Test Email to send yourself a copy and confirm the subject and body read clearly and render correctly. Checking a test first means a real fulfillment provider never receives a broken or confusing request.
Best practices
- Send a test before you rely on it. A test copy shows exactly what the provider will receive, so you catch problems before a real order does.
- Keep the placeholders intact. They fill in each order's number, customer, total, and address, so removing them loses that detail.
- Use Generate with AI as a starting draft. Let it draft the content, then adjust the wording to match how your provider works.
- Reset if a change goes wrong. Reset to Default brings back the standard template so you can start over.
If something goes wrong
- The test email does not arrive. Check that your sender email is set up on the Notifications page, then try Send Test Email again.
- A placeholder shows as plain text in a real email. The placeholder syntax was likely broken. Use Edit Code to fix it, or Reset to Default to restore the template.
- You cannot edit the email. Your role may not allow managing settings. Ask an owner or admin.
