Search settings in Tanqory sit inside each item rather than on a page of their own, so a product, a collection and a page each carry their own title, description and web address. This maps what each of the three actually offers, since they differ more than they look, and points to the article that takes each field in full. It also covers what a search result shows for an item nobody has set.
A collection carries its own Search engine listing card holding three fields: Page title, Meta description and URL handle. It looks like the one on a product and is not quite the same, and the differences are the part worth knowing. This covers what belongs in each field, what the counters allow, and what the storefront does with a field you leave empty.
A page such as About or FAQ keeps its search settings in two places rather than one: a URL handle out in the open and a collapsed SEO settings section holding a Meta title and a Meta description. This covers where each sits, what fills itself in as you type, and what the two fields are for on a page nothing else describes.
A product carries the fullest set of search fields in the store: Meta title, Meta description, URL handle and Keywords, set against a preview of the result. This covers what each one does, what the admin recommends for its length, and what happens to a field you skip. It also follows the four out to the live storefront, where each of them ends up in the page a search engine reads.
A URL handle is the readable end of a storefront address, the part after /products/, /collections/ or /pages/. It is yours to write, in whichever language your customers search in, and the three item types each present it a little differently. This covers where the field sits on each, what it accepts, and what changing one does to an address you have already shared.
The meta title and the meta description are the headline and the summary of a search result, which makes them the two fields with the most say in whether anyone clicks. This covers what each is for, how long the admin allows on each item type, and which of the two has a fallback when you leave it empty. The two behave differently there, and it catches people out.
Search engines find your store by crawling it and following the links between its pages. There is no sitemap setting in the Tanqory admin at all, so there is nothing for you to build, upload or submit, which catches out anyone arriving from a platform where that is a job of its own. This covers what the platform handles without you, what is genuinely left in your hands, and the four things that make a page easier for a crawler to reach.
