Manage Regions in a Market
A market's regions are the countries it covers, shown on the market's page in the Includes row. They decide which buyers the market applies to, so buyers in those regions are served by the market and its settings. You change them from the same row, which opens the region selection.
On this page
A market's regions are the countries it covers, and they are what decide who the market applies to. Buyers in a market's regions are served by that market, so they get its currency, catalog, and other settings. Because of this, a market's regions are one of its most important settings: they connect the market to the buyers it is meant for. You see and change a market's regions on the market's own page, in the Includes row.
Before you begin
- In your admin, select Markets in the left navigation, then select a market to open its page.
- You know which regions this market should cover.
Where a market's regions are shown
On a market's page, the Includes row shows the regions the market currently covers. Each region appears with its name, so you can see which countries belong to the market. Next to it is an edit control that opens the region selection, where you change which regions the market includes.
How regions shape a market
The regions in a market are the link between the market and its buyers. A buyer in one of the market's regions is served by that market, so the market's currency, catalog, and other settings apply to them. This is why a market with a single region targets one place, while a market with several regions covers a wider area. Setting the right regions is how you make sure the right buyers are matched to the right market.
Tip: The Includes row is the quickest way to see who a market covers. Check it before and after you change regions, since the regions decide which buyers receive the market's currency, catalog, and other settings.
Changing a market's regions
To change which regions a market covers, select the edit control on the Includes row. This opens the Market conditions dialog, where you tick regions to add them and untick them to remove them. Adding and removing regions is covered step by step in Add Regions to a Market and Edit Market Regions.
Best practices
- Keep regions matched to your intent. Include only the regions the market is meant for, so buyers are served correctly.
- Group regions that share settings. Regions that should use the same currency and catalog belong in one market.
- Review the Includes row. It shows the market's current regions, so check it before and after changes.
- Use a single region to target one place. A one-region market is a simple way to serve just that country.
If something goes wrong
- The market covers the wrong buyers. Check the Includes row and adjust the regions so it covers only what you intend.
- A region is in a market you did not mean. Open the markets involved and adjust each one's regions until the region is where you want it.
- You are not sure which regions a market has. The Includes row on the market's page lists them.
- You cannot change the regions. Your role may not allow managing markets. Ask an owner or admin.
