Store Details Configuration
A field-by-field companion to Store Details. It explains what the store name, store email, and store phone are for, and covers the billing address that sits in the same section.
On this page
This is the detailed companion to Store Details. It walks the Store details section of Settings, General field by field, so you understand what each value is for and how to set it well. The section has two parts: the store profile (store name, store email, and store phone, edited in one dialog) and the billing address that sits directly below it. For the quick walkthrough with the dialog shown, follow the pillar article above.
The two parts of Store details
| Part | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Store profile | Store name, store email, and store phone, edited in the Store profile dialog |
| Billing address | The address used on your billing, added or changed from the Billing address row |
Before you begin
- Your role includes General settings.
- Open Settings > General in the admin sidebar. The Store details section is at the top of that page.
Steps
1. Open the Store details section
From the admin, open Settings, then General. The Store details section is the first on the page. It shows your store profile with an Edit link, and below it the Billing address with its own Edit link. The dialog and its fields are pictured in Store Details.
2. Store name
The store name is displayed on your storefront and in customer communications, so set it to your brand exactly as customers should read it. Keep it consistent everywhere, because a name that matches across the storefront, checkout, and emails reads as one trustworthy brand rather than several.
3. Store email
The store email is the inbox that receives important messages about your store operations, so use an address your team actually monitors. It is not the address customers see on your outgoing email: that sender address is set in notification settings, reachable from a link in the dialog. Keeping the two separate means operational alerts and customer-facing email are each handled by the right mailbox.
4. Store phone
The store phone is the main contact number for customer inquiries and support, so enter a number that is genuinely answered. Storing it in full international form, with the country code, avoids confusion for customers and services that dial it from another country.
5. Billing address
The billing address sits below the store profile in the same section and has its own Edit link. Until you add one, it reads as not set. Add the address you want associated with your billing here, and keep it current after a move so your billing records stay accurate.
6. Save your changes
After editing the store profile, save the dialog to apply the changes; the close icon or Cancel discards them. Saved values then appear in the Store details section on the General page. The billing address is saved from its own Edit link in the same way.
Best practices
- Match the store name to your brand. Consistency across the storefront and emails builds customer trust.
- Use a monitored store email. Operational alerts should reach a mailbox your team reads.
- Set the customer-facing sender separately. The address customers see is configured in notification settings, not in the store profile.
- Keep the phone and billing address current. Update them after any change so contact and billing records stay correct.
Common mistakes
- Treating the store email as the sender address. It is the receiving inbox; the outgoing sender is set in notification settings.
- Leaving an old phone number in place. A number no one answers frustrates customers who need help.
- Forgetting the billing address after a move. An outdated address leaves your billing records wrong.
If something goes wrong
- Changes do not appear. Confirm you saved the dialog rather than closing it, then check the Store details section again.
- Customer email shows a different address. That sender is set in notification settings, not in the store profile.
- You cannot edit the section. Your role may not allow managing settings. Ask an owner or admin.
